Welcome Letter

WELCOME!

Dear Parents,

We wish to welcome you to Teddy Bear Corner and invite you to read about the many services we provide. Teddy Bear Corner has been in business since 1994 and operates three centers which are all situated in residential areas of Fairfield. All facilities incorporate the latest in security and monitoring systems. Fire, smoke, heat and gas detection devices are throughout the buildings. Video recorders and emergency/medical response units are at near reach of each center. Only parents and invited guests have access through our locked security doors. Our programs are fully insured and licensed by the State of Connecticut. All three centers are open Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, twelve months a year. We also have an extended service program until 6:00 PM.

Teddy Bear Corner is determined to provide your child with a warm, relaxed, and nurturing environment. Our low child-to-teacher ratio will ensure that each child gets the attention they deserve from a quality day care facility. Our programs are designed with developmentally appropriate toys and equipment that give children the chance to explore, discover, and learn.

Our goal at Teddy Bear Corner is to provide a positive, home-like atmosphere where children can learn the give and take of social interaction. The principles of early childhood education, in addition to the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), are used to create age appropriate activities that reinforce a child’s natural curiosity and allow them to experience challenges and achievements, while bolstering his or her self-confidence. We believe that the best way for young children to learn is through play and exploration, therefore, we base our program on an academic, hands-on curriculum.

Our dedicated and well-trained staff are certified in pediatric first aid/safety and CPR. Our director, supervisors and teachers are trained and licensed by the State of Connecticut to administer both over-the-counter and prescription medication, provided the correct forms are filled out by both the parents and pediatricians. Our staff work hard to maintain a safe and healthy, learning environment. These surroundings help the children learn the skills they need to gain independence and explore the world around them. Teachers coordinate a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the interests and needs of the children. “Hands-on” activities and play are used to introduce the children to science, math, art, language, cooking, music and movement.

Our Infant/Toddler program cares for children six weeks to two years old. This program is divided into five classrooms separated by children’s age and ability levels. Our Infant classrooms are specifically designed for children who are approximately six weeks to six months and then for children between eight months to twelve months. Our Toddler classrooms are set up for children who are approximately 14 months to 24 months and 25 months to 36 months. Our Transitional Preschool program is designed for children between 2.5 to 3.5 years of age, and the Early Learning Center is designed for Preschool children between the ages of 3.5 to 5 years old. All our spacious classrooms are equipped with developmentally appropriate equipment, toys, and activities.

We believe that learning should take place everywhere, including outside. All our centers include a large, grassy playground equipped with developmentally appropriate climbers, a garden that the children and teachers care for themselves, a wonderful “bike track” complete with a car wash and, of course, plenty of push toys, ride-on tricycles and baby buggies. We also have a smaller play area for the younger children, picnic tables, shaded sandboxes, and sensory tables.

Our registered school nurse visits all programs on a weekly basis. She maintains the children’s medical records and ensures the safety of our programs. We provide the children with disposable diapers and baby wipes, as well as all linens for the cribs and cots. These services are all included in the tuition prices and are benefits not provided at any other centers in Fairfield.

The basic theory behind Teddy Bear Corner is to provide a quality, home-like environment where children can discover and learn. Communication and parent involvement are extremely important in helping us meet the individual needs of your child. We value close personal relationships between children, parents and teachers. We want to provide a program where parents and teachers work together as a team to provide the highest level of quality care for the children. Everyone at Teddy Bear Corner is dedicated to making your child’s day care experience a truly happy one.

Please feel free to see me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dawn M. Tagliavia-Deri
